Sad, Sick, Broke Rodman Owes $800K in Back Child Support

It's a story we've seen all too many times. A famous athlete divorces his wife either during his playing career, or just a few years removed from it while the endorsement opportunities are still rolling in. The athlete gets tagged for child support and/or alimony payments that are in line with a level of income that dwindles significantly within a few years. The famous athlete then gets way, way behind on those payments. Toss in a hard-partying lifestyle, way too many appearances at way too many pathetic public events, and you have the case of Basketball Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman.

Calling Rodman "broke" and "extremely sick," Dennis' attorneys (working pro bono) are arguing in court that he is unable to keep up with his own living expenses, much less those of his ex-wife. Here's the sad tale, from the Los Angeles Times:

Rodman is behind in his payments and faces a court hearing Tuesday in Orange. He faces up to 20 days in jail for failure to pay spousal and child support, according to an attorney for his ex-wife. As of March 1, Rodman, 51, owed $808,935 in back child support for the 9- and 10-year-old children that he had with his third wife, Michelle Rodman, said her attorney, Jack Kayajanian, in court documents.

Rodman also owed $51,441 through March 1 in back spousal support, Kayajanian alleged in court documents.

Rodman's attorney, Linnea Willis, did not specify in the documents what she meant by "sick." It's unclear if Dennis is suffering from some sort of malady, is broken up by the burden of his debts, or if she's referring to the "well-documented drinking problem" his manager told ABC News about on Tuesday. Coolio & Son in the Cooler At Same Time

Coolio's probably not cool with his son being in jail, but he doesn't have too much room to talk.

The rapper's oldest son, 22-year-old Grtis Ivey, got into some trouble with the law in November. (E! News confirms that he has been charged with robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy robbery, kidnap first degree with a deadly weapon, burglary with use of a deadly weapon and grand larceny.)

But Friday morning, Coolio himself was placed behind bars at the same facility as Ivey...

The 48-year-old star (real name: Artis Leon Ivey) was a passenger in a vehicle was pulled over for a routine traffic violation Friday morning, law enforcement tells E! News.

But when Coolio's name was put through the system, the officer noticed he had two active bench warrants out for his arrest stemming from multiple traffic violations.

As a result, he was arrested and booked in the Clark County Detention Center, where his son is due to face a judge Monday. Coolio has since posted bail and been released.

Andrew Schiff was sitting in a traffic jam in California this month after giving a speech at an investment conference about gold. He turned off the satellite radio, got out of the car and screamed a profanity.

"I'm not Zen at all, and when I'm freaking out about the situation, where I'm stuck like a rat in a trap on a highway with no way to get out, it's very hard," Schiff, director of marketing for broker-dealer Euro Pacific Capital Inc., said in an interview.

Demi Snorts NO to Say No to Aging

As Demi Moore hides out following her recent hospitalization, the actress' closest pals are rallying around her to offer messages of love and support.

Moore was M.I.A. at the 64th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards in Hollywood Saturday, despite being nominated alongside Jennifer Aniston, 42, Alicia Keys, 31, Patty Jenkins, 40, and Penelope Spheeris, 66, for co-directing Lifetime's Five.

"It would have been nice [to have Demi here], but given circumstances, life goes on and first things first," Spheeris told Us Weekly. "And we all wish Demi the best and I hope we all get together soon."

Jenkins echoed Spheeris' sentiments, saying: "It's terribly sad that she's not here, but she'll be great in two seconds."

While the newly single star recovers, Jenkins told Us the Margin Call actress is "one of my favorite people in the world" and "one of the greatest girls I've met in Los Angeles."

An insider previously confirmed to Us that Moore, 49, suffered a seizure on Monday, prompting her chilling 911 call. (TMZ claims that Moore was doing "whip-its," inhaling nitrous oxide, to get high.)

People sure love to hate Lana Del Rey. After sustaining repeated attacks on her appearance, her questionable past, and her flimsy current identity, the retro-glamour singer and "gangsta Nancy Sinatra" was torn apart once again for her less-than-impressive performance on "Saturday Night Live" this past weekend. NBC news anchor Brian Williams called her "one of the worst [performers] in 'SNL' history," while the episode's host, Daniel Radcliffe, came to her defense. So, did "SNL" producers make a big mistake by booking Del Rey, who has yet to release her major label debut album, for such a high-profile appearance so early--or by booking her at all?

Lana Del Rey's brief career has actually been controversial and troubled from the start. After getting signed to Interscope last October, gracing the covers of magazines like Billboard and Interview Russia, and getting signed to Next Model Management, a backlash among skeptics was inevitable. Bloggers doubted her authenticity, critics' patience for her soon wore razor-thin, and her shoddy "SNL" performance pushed many fence-sitters right back into the haters' camp. It seems that whatever Del Rey manages to accomplish, her online haters are always waiting for her to falter.

Even NBC news anchor and indie music fan Brian Williams--in a private email published without consent on the gossip site Gawker--called Del Rey's performance "one of the worst outings in 'SNL' history." Williams did, however, write that the singer was one of "SNL's" most inexperienced performers, having been booked solely on the strength of a two-song online EP. OJ Home in Foreclosure

MIAMI (AP) — Like tens of thousands of other Florida homeowners, imprisoned former football star O.J. Simpson is in danger of losing his house to foreclosure.

Miami-Dade Circuit Court records show that JPMorgan Chase filed for foreclosure in September on the four-bedroom, four-bath house south of downtown Miami. Simpson's attorney has since filed a motion to dismiss the case, but there has been no further action since November.

Simpson bought the 4,233-square-foot house in 2000 for $575,000, property records show. Its current assessed value is $478,401, with property taxes of about $9,000. The 2011 taxes were paid in December.

The 64-year-old former football star and actor is serving a nine-to-33-year prison sentence stemming from a 2007 armed confrontation with sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas casino hotel room. Simpson was convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery and other charges. He is appealing the conviction.

Simpson was acquitted in 1995 in the Los Angeles slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. A civil jury in California later ordered Simpson to pay $33.5 million for Goldman's wrongful death. The attorney for Goldman's father, Fred Goldman, said Monday the bankruptcy case played directly into the Simpson foreclosure.

Crystal Harris didn't just break Hugh Hefner's heart when she broke off their engagement days before their June wedding. Now she wants his dog, too!

"I told Crystal she could keep the engagement ring and Bentley (a wedding gift) if I could have our puppy [Charlie]," Hefner, 85, tweeted Tuesday. "But now she wants all three."

Hefner's former girlfriend, Holly Madison, was outraged. She tweeted to Harris, "Why did you voluntarily give the dog to Hef (who loves him too) after you left, only to ask for him back a few months later?"

Kendra Wilkinson tweeted to the Playboy mogul she was "sorry" he had to "go through this."

"That dog loves you so much," Wilkinson, 26, wrote about the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. "[Crystal] abandoned him and now she wants him back. She's mean, mean, mean."

"Dogs shouldn't be yanked from happy homes on a whim," Madison, 32, added. "She needs to quit attention-seeking!"

Right after Hefner and Harris, 25, split, he tweeted that she "brought Charlie back because she thinks he's happier here and I appreciate it, because I really missed him.'

Harris auctioned off the 3.39 carat circular-cut diamond Hefner gave to her in October. The engagement ring was worth an estimated $90,000 and sold for $47,500 at the Christie's Auction...More

In the name of Mookie Wilson, what are the owners of Major League Baseball's New York Metropolitans thinking?

In an offer that must have David Letterman's writing staff smiling, the the New York Mets are offering 4 percent ownership stakes in their beleaguered ball club. For the past four months, the Mets have been searching high and far for 10-12 minority partners to invest $20 million each, according to the New York Times. Not surprisingly, it hasn't been smooth sailing.

Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz, controlling owners of the Mets, lost a combined $70 million last season and could lose millions, if not billions, more in a trial being pushed by the trustee for Bernie Madoff's ponzi scheme victims. While the National League club waits for a financial life raft, the team picked up a $40 million bank loan to slow the bleeding for the next few months.

The Wilpons need to raise more than $200 million through this minority ownership blueprint. But so far they've been unable to find enough bigwigs to take them up on the offer. The New York Times obtained the term sheet given by the Mets owners to potential co-ownership buyers. It's a package that seems like it came out of a minor league baseball promotion handbook...More
